A civil engineer has laid down his tools for a career in van sales at one of Ipswich’s longest running motor dealers.
Alan Eaton, aged 38, from Ipswich, started his new post as Van and Small Business Executive at Bristo’s Ipswich earlier in January.

Bristo’s was established in the early 1900’s by Walter Bristo and a Renault showroom was installed at the dealership in 2003.
The Renault showroom originally sold cars only, but evolved over the years and now sells vans too. This required a confident Sales Executive to join the team and Alan was the man for the job.
Alan has always been interested in the car industry but it was engineering that initially took his fancy as a teenager.
He started his career in civil engineering after leaving school and spent many years working as a Surfacing Manager for French company Lafarge where he did everything from maintaining road intersections across the UK to liaising with the Highways Agency and Police.
In his new role at Bristo’s, Alan liaises with businesses and individuals requiring vans, promotes and sells company fleet and keeps track of stock and administration in his department.
“I’m really enjoying my new job and couldn’t be happier. I decided to change career because I wanted a more communicative role.
“It’s great working for my local dealership, Bristo’s is a great company and I just love meeting new people each day,” said Alan.
His natural sales ability and friendly manner has meant that he’s already overseen the sale of a number of Renault vans to local businesses.
“My Renault training is invaluable and I’m looking forward to a rewarding career here working with one of the best car manufacturers around,” he said.
Managing Director of Bristo’s, Ian Head said: “Alan’s main role is to be the principal point of contact for businesses and customers.
“He is on hand to give advice on van sales, financing and contract hire and we wish him every success for a rewarding career with Bristo’s Renault.”
